NDIA HAS LAUNCHED SATELLITES IN ITS 100TH SPACE MISSION On Sunday September 9, 2012 (still today for some of you), India’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle PSLVC-21 lifted off, carrying two satellites from a launch pad in Sriharikota, southern India. It was the 100th mission for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The satellites consist of one French observation satellite and a Japane se microsatellite.India’s space programme has been active since the 1960’s, launching satellites for India and other nations. The ISRO successfully sent a probe to the moon in 2008; it was the first time a probe had detected evidence of water on the lunar surface.
