Join Save Our Seas Shark Centre for a ‘Whale’ of a Time in Hermanus (28 September – 1 October) — KIM VON BRANDIS, 25 SEPTEMBER, 2012 The Save Our Seas Shark Centre will be joining many marine and conservation NGOs in exhibiting at the Hermanus Whale Festival’s Endangered Species Marquee this weekend – staring from Friday 28 September until Monday 1 October. The Hermanus Whale Festival is celebrating it’s 21st year as the only enviro-arts festival in South Africa and expects thousands of visitors who will be keen to enjoy the unique natural environment, watch the whales and revel in the wide range of activities planned around the Festival.The Endangered Species Marquee will be one of the main attractions at the Festival. Included in the Marquee’s lineup of daily talks by marine researchers and conservation organisations are Save Our Seas funded researchers Meaghan McCord (on 28 & 29 September) and Tamzyn Zweig (on 29 September). Linked to the Endangered Species Marquee will be a Bedouin tent with a fun Save Our Seas kiddies colouring-in area that will be awarding exciting hourly prizes for the best art. The South Africa Shark Conservancy (SASC) will be running daily tours, shark dissections and hosting talks. Listen to Save Our Seas Shark Centre educator, Paul Millar, talking about sharks on Friday from 12h00-12h40 or Saturday from 12h00-12h40 - and Save Our Seas funded researcher, Lauren De Vos, talking about “Fish on Film - using cameras for conservation” on Sunday from 12h00–12h40 or from 15h00–15h40.
